  1. Why is there a number on the back of the neck of the doll what does that mean it’s bold 50 I’ve just never seen that on dolls before I didn’t know if that meant like that was the number of the doll like if they were counting them as they were making them but I can’t find no information about it.

  2. Kennedys action after his PT boat was rammed is a example of what a true leader is, as Americans we have some how lost are way. Kennedy fought for his country and didn’t use his father’s influence and power to get out of his responsibility to a nation he would one day lead.

  3. I just purchased this Taylor Swift doll for my grand-daughter. It was to sing Our Song. It did not play as the batteries were long dead after so many years of sitting on the shelf and it was an unopened box. I carefully opened it just enough to get the batteries replaced then reconnected all wires exactly as original. To our surprise the voice is Miley Cyrus singing Rocking Around the Christmas tree. I was a bit dissipointed but my son said she will love it because she likes both singers. 🙂

    • Hi, I am 11 years old and I really want it all myself because I been thinking all about because I’ve been calming about a lot of things I like and to do thank you for everything. Hope I like it says did you buy

  17. Hello, where can I find the other 3 dolls in the Elizabeth Taylor as Cleopatra collection? I have the one in the gold dress. Please help.

    Thank you

    • On Ebay, one lucky person got her Mint NRFB this October 2023 in the pink dress with eyelashes for $102 plus $15 shipping in an auction, but most NRFB are $160-250 when sold.
The ones in the blue outfit and painted eyelashes are usually $40-60.

  18. I Have a 20inch porcelain Marinette Justin Timberlake doll that only 500 were made. Would like to know how much it’s worth

    • They went out of business, so watch Ebay and any of the other auction sites. They pop up every once in a while. It took me a while to find many of them. Who are you missing?

      • I’m missing Albert Einstein, Moses, Jesus, Nelson Mandela, Princess Diana, and Harry S Truman. I have the rest of the dolls

      • I am missing Princess Diana, Nelson Mandela, Jesus, Moses, and Harry S Truman. I have the rest of the dolls that were made by this company

        • At least 4 Einsteins on Ebay now. Looks like you took him off the list. Truman and Diana should show up eventually. Mandela was a real lucky find for me. I thought I won the lottery. Never tried for Moses or Jesus since they wouldn’t be real people portraits. Andrew Jackson was one of the last ones I finally found.

    • Hi Patti!
Is it ‘new/’’like new” condition? Are you selling it? How much? I am interested!
      Please let me know.Thank you!
      Natalie

    • I just re-orderd one on ebay because the one i had i gave up as a christmas present 🎁 to a ol’ dear friend, now its time i get mine! So when herrys birtbday comes around i can higg him and cry into his beard because i miss him each day of each year!! Love kenny ❤️

  19. Hi there! I just got one of these wonderful dolls in and I’m just smitten! What a great likeness of the fabulous Mr. John <3 I'm a bit sad that the singing feature on mine doesn't work (changed the batteries, adjusted the cartridge, I tried everything) but I'm glad I got to hear how it would have sounded on your website! Hopefully I can get him restored someday!

    • That’s sad it doesn’t work. Touch wood, I’ve been lucky so far bringing back old used dolls with corroded battery compartments.Maybe it is like the old Atari cartridges, you have to blow on it.

Did you see my Elton John youtube video? https://youtu.be/WDpDN-JM5L0 I made the doll play the piano. It is one of my favorite dolls.

    • The edition number doesn’t mean anything. They are all printed as 1 of 12,000.

Over the last 30 days (May 2023) the Exclusive Premiere Grampa Munster doll has sold for around $20 on Ebay US. A few are currently listed up to $40 but they haven’t sold yet.

    • See the photos from the HW Bush doll https://www.celebritydollmuseum.com/5551/george-h-w-bush/
There is a compartment on the back of the doll. Do not undo the tie, you will be sorry. Just loosen it to take off the shirt. The tie is tied like a regular tie.
I have had a 100% success rate changing the batteries from ToyPresident dolls and getting the sound to work, even removing leaking and corroded batteries from them.

Any Toypresidents doll that still talks can’t be ‘never removed from box’.The batteries don’t last 15 plus years. If you are going to store them long term, I suggest taking the batteries out. They have a 5-7 year shelf life in the best conditions.

  20. I have this same doll unopened. But it Sings rocking around the Christmas tree by Miley Cyrus. Definitely a mistake from the company with the voice box.

    • I recently acquired the 2008 Holiday Hannah Montana Miley Cyrus doll for the museum. The batteries are long dead since it has now been 15 years since they were manufactured. I look forward to getting it out of the box and replacing the batteries to see what the doll sings.

  21. I want to know the value of ALL TAYLOR SWIFT DOLLS IN BOX, IN PERFECT CONGRATULATION, NEVER TOUCHED, NEVER LOOKED AT, NEVER HANDLED!!!

    • I would check Ebay. Some sell for up to $250 each, others only $50 in new condition. With her tour going on, now might be a good time to sell them, even though fall traditionally brings the highest prices with holiday shoppers.
I wish the CDM could afford them, it would be nice to have the complete collection. They sound special. Good luck with your collection.

  36. Since WHEN is Edgar Allan Poe and striptease dolls belong in a search for Albert Einstein figures/dolls? Amazon is really going downhill with its searches. 62. Have one never been out of the box in mint condition and your saying it’s only worth $10 it probably cost more to purchase it back in 1997 25 years old.

    • Sorry to break it to you, but there are a number of Jackie Robinson 12s that have sold on Ebay in the last few month for $10 to $35. Many for sale around $20-25 now (07Dec22). Not many people collect 12 inch sports figures and they were only made for a few years to compete with GIJoes. There were some great rookies with 12 inch dolls in the 1997-1999 period, who have now all retired.

I think they are a great bargain. The dolls/action figures are well made, articulated and fantastic uniforms, clothing and accessories. For example, you could shadow box frame the Jackie Robinson’s, 42 Dodger Jersey and use it on a wall in a 1:6 scale diarama. Some have 1:6 scale wooden bats, balls, shoulder pads, skates, and gloves. I redressed the museum’s Jackie Robinson doll in my Snoop Dogg video as one of Snoop’s pack members.

If you are thinking of selling yours, do it just before or around Jackie Robinson Day, April 15. The selling price should be higher then. Better yet, frame the jersey and sell it on Etsy for $50.

  63. Do you have any of these dolls available for purchase at all???
I would love one of these dolls can you tell me where they have these dolls for purchase??

  77. I purchased this doll last week when I saw her listed in a marketplace group on FB. Usually I collect Disney Store dolls, but she looked so beautiful in the box I HAD to buy her. She arrived in the post today and I am in LOVE with her. The level of detail in the outfit and the face…..it brings back memories of being a child and seeing the live-action in the cinema for the first time. Absolutely love her ❤

    • I agree, the doll has a very good face sculpt of Glenn Close. The outfit and accessories are also the high caliber of Mattel dolls of that vintage. It was a top line doll at the time. It is one of my favorites.

  78. Well I really like these dolls they’re amazing I think they’re just perfect yeah I know really that’s why I requested that the dolls are spectacular I know for a fact that they look pretty and I know they’re not that bad I promise

  79. I just got this figure. I wasn’t aware it existed until a week ago. Never have had an SWToys figure before. The body reminds me of Medicom RAH Catwoman/Harley figs I have. Not a Phicen but it’ll do. The hands could’ve used better detail. The jacket may not live super long (then again maybe it will (?)). The shoes are on the fragile side, but they’re super cool. The pants are rad. The likeness is terrific, the hair color and style are right on.

Bottom line: I LOVE THIS FIG. It’s KStew, c’mon! And a darn good KStew at that. A Kristen Stewart figure. A Phoebe Larson figure. NEVER would’ve thought. Very stoked.

    • I was thrilled when I got it too, especially since the Mattel Twilight face molds of Kristen Stewart were so generic. The resemblance on this SWToys version is remarkable; the detail in the eyes is fantastic. The only downside is, as a celebrity doll, the Phoebe Larson character is from a pretty obscure movie and Stewart is not generally known as a redhead. The outstanding resemblance saves the day. I agree the sneakers are pretty cool with the real laces and best not messed with too much. The sunglasses are pretty nice too, I often borrow them for use by other dolls in videos.

    • Looks like it is going for $100 to $150 on Ebay today (April 4, 2022). Of course it depends on the condition of the doll and box.

  103. Hi, I have a snoop Dogg action figure with the light blue prison shirt, brand new in the box and I’m wondering if these are super rare because I can’t find any just like mine. I’ve seen the other 2 versions on eBay but not the one that I have. Could you please tell me what it’s worth in AUD so I have some idea of what to sell it for if I choose too?? Thanks so much

    • I have kept an eye on Snoop Dogg sales as his doll is one of the most visited on the website, right after Selena and Michael Jackson. If truly new in the box and in good shape, personally I’d be looking at the $300 range in a Buy it Now on Ebay, Start it much lower and run it long on an auction. This is a rather slow time for used celebrity doll sales, so you might do better in the fall when holiday shopping kicks in. Again just my personal opinion.

I don’t know how the blue shirt one came about. Anyone else know? Where did you get yours? There was one on Ebay with a different box and two with different blue shirts. Perhaps the early prototypes were blue shirts and there were a variety of them. Also the box mentions Adidas shoes and neither of the museum’s Snoop Dogg dolls have them. Did the contract fall through? The museum’s gray shirt one has black slip on shoes and the black and yellow doll has the dress shoes.

    • Sorry, the Celebrity Doll Museum doesn’t sell dolls. You should be able to find a Kristy McNichol doll on Ebay. There is a new in box one right now (Aug 12, 2021) for $49 plus shipping.

Price check Kristy McNichol doll on Ebay

  104. I just got the Drew Barrymore doll and my granddaughter doesn’t like it bc it looks scary to get. I took a good look it doesn’t look like Barrymore, unless Barrymore has a male body. Big head, square jaw, manly face, belly button above the hip bone, arms long like a male; something is definitely wrong with this doll.

  250. This doll is so cute. I have the same one. When I saw Blanket with one at the memorial service, I decided I had to have one. Found one on eBay brand new in its original box. I’ll never let go of it.

  251. I can’t wait for this doll to go out in s to ores again can’t wait to buy her. I want it to in the future give it to my granddaughter.

    • Trying to find this doll in stores is almost an impossible feat!
I had it on a notify when available from Target and Walmart.
Walmart never send me notifications but Target sent me an email 2:30 in the morning saying it was available. Soon as I clicked and entered the site, it was sold out!

  252. It is a Beautiful Doll but it is ridiculous that only so few were made and people are selling them for 500 and up.I want to add it to my Collection.Mattell when u make dolls of color we need them on full order we should not have to be searching like this I saw it on GMA the same day it was sold out.I t was released on my Birthday 1/14/

    • Mattel will probably offer another batch at some point since they still have the notify me option on their page for the doll. Last preorder batch I saw offered back on January 14 was for a May 3 delivery.
Right now (Mar 8, 2021) on Ebay the doll is selling for $60 with shipping included in the US. Directly from Mattel shipping is about $10 a doll, so the ebay price is only about $20 over retail and you can get it shipped right away.

    • I wanted to get this doll for my daughter and it was sold out before I got the opportunity. I absolutely refuse to spend more than the $29.99. I think it is not only disgusting but ridiculous that people are buying and reselling it for $60 and more.

    • I purchased mine on Mecari. It didn’t cost me too much because I earn credit/money for selling other items on the site.

  253. How much would Tobey Maguire spider man be worth still in box??? I can’t seem to find a value anywhere at all??? Would be great to find out roughly what it’s value is. Cheers

    • Check ebay in completed listings. Two loose ones sold for ~$130 last week (Jan 2021). One with shoes and comb, one without. Both in excellent condition.

The jacket and earrings are pretty important, but if your doll is in excellent shape and the pants are too, someone might pay $20-$50 for it. Selena is pretty popular right now with the Netflix series, prices rise and fall by the month.

  310. So I ordered the platinum label Limited Edition black widow doll October 11 I want to know if I got one that has the numbers on there that says like maybe 4212 out of 5000 I don t want to open the box to find out

    • If it has the white bodysuit on, it should be numbered. Unfortunately you have to at least slide the insert out of the box to see the number. When dolls are new you can sometimes carefully pull back the tape from one side of the box top, slide the insert with the doll attached out about 3/4 of the way and the CofA is in a plastic bag taped to the back. You could then see the number and just slide it back in and reseal with the same tape. Have a small piece of plastic to protect the tape half unattached while you mess with the box so it doesn’t stick to anything.

I’d love to hear others’ numbers if they open the box. Back in the late 90s there was a huge push out of 10 inch TV sitcom celebrity dolls by companies like Exclusive Premiere where they put the same number on every CoA. They were never limited editions. I don’t think Mattel would do that, so assume white suit it has number on the CoA somewhere between 1 and 5000. I could be wrong since I didn’t remove the bodysuit, but the dolls themselves are not marked with a number.

  315. Unfortunately several of these quotations are bogus, and some are either misprinted, or have been mangled so as to spoil their sense. Disappointing, when doing it right (i.e. consulting a good source) is so easy.

    • The dolls were made by ToyPresidents, Inc, a now defunct small company out of Texas, during the G.W.Bush era. The quotes are what they put on the box and I must admit they seemed somewhat off to me when they were transcribed. If you want put a paragraph together about what is inaccurate, I’d be happy to publish it along side their box quote. Thanks for taking the time to comment. Perhaps it will keep the inaccuracies from propagating further.

I personally love this doll I have 10 of them now and have made the ones that I’m not keeping original custom outfits I think her body is very unique and beautiful a great alternative to Barbie I don’t know why they didn’t use the body on more dolls is way better then the new curvy Barbie although I do wish the dolls arms went out but literally that is all I would change even if you don’t like Rosie I suggest that you get one to try out she is quite cute you can always repaint her if you don’t like her original face .

  349. I have this cher doll but it says 1975 on her back . Why is she listed as 1976 ? She has original halter dress and shoes.

    • The date refers to the year the body designed was patented( usually the year before it’s initial use) same with the head. They don’t have to change the date unless the body designed changes drastically. Hence every use of that body through 1981 would say 1975….

  441. Could not get the batteries changed without completely undressing the doll making it hard to put back on because it it difficult to tie a baby tie. would recommend putting the battery pack somewhere else

    • You shouldn’t have to undo the tie to get the shirt off the access the battery compartment. The ties are miniature real silk ties, so you can loosen them like a real tie to get them out from under the collar to either pull the shirt up or down (some have elastic between the legs). After replacing or removing batteries redress and pull tie tight again under the collar.. All the Toypresident dolls should have dead batteries by now. The L44 button batteries die and start to leak at around 7 years, so you really should remove them for storage.

You advice is a bit late since Toypresidents, Inc. went out of business around 2005. Kudos to you if you managed to tie a proper knot in the miniature tie.

  443. I have an old Abe Lincoln doll, past down from family. I can’t find any markings on it. He’s 21” tall from top head to feet and 23” with top hat 🎩 on. His body, legs, hands are all cloth n stuffed in one piece. From bottom Feet material is black, then brown pants with a cpl stripes coming down and stripes going around legs every 1 1/2 “
Legs sown to bottom/butt same material as legs. Then at waist a red vest with black stripes (wider n narrower ) is sown over a white shirt. Black tie around scarf (I guess)
Then long black felt coat is sown over shirt n vest. Hands are stuffed w wh cuff and have no fingers. The head is plastic, he is smiling nicely, few lines around eyes, cheek n nose. Mouth slightly open showing teeth. He has NO beard.
I’ve searched pics but cannot find a picture that looks like him.
If you could be of any help, would be much appreciated. Hope to hear from you soon

  512. If you own this doll or any other talking dolls, please change the batteries as soon as possible or just remove them for storage. The doll is over 10 years old and if you don’t get them out they will leak inside and possible ruin the doll. The LR44 batteries tend to start leaking at about 7 years depending on how they were used or stored.

  513. I have a starting lineup the major league baseball cooperstown collection doll of babe ruth and Honus Wagner from 1996 and was wondering if they are of value, how much, or will they or can they possibly become valuable in the future

    • The one with the Union flag dress is worth around $35 on ebay right now (Sept 27, 2021).
Use the Ebay link above to check but make sure you check the sold/completed option to see how much they really sold for rather than what is just offered. The On Tour one with the orange dress only about $10-15.

The polybands on the late 1990’s dolls are beginning to fail(dry up and crack) so many of the accessories like the camera, microphones, and mini dolls are dropping to the bottom of the unopened boxes. This often lowers what people are willing to pay for these dolls because they appear to be missing.

  522. A friend has one of these. It is a well built, well dressed doll about 16″ tall that really looks and sounds like it’s famous character. Has over 2 dozen sound excerpts from his speeches as U.S. president. Doll must be undressed almost completely to change or access battery compartment (uses 3 #A76 button cells), but very easy to do as clothes have snaps where buttons would be. Would be a good add if you collect famous dolls.

    • Thanks for taking the time to comment even if it is just a link to the most recent article on your website about doll collecting. tommydoll is a fantastic site and I look forward to reading more from an insider on doll manufacturing.

Agreed, the Rosie doll was limited to what she came with and the red suit brown vest outfit isn’t very inspiring. Even though it was released when Rosie O’Donnell was at her talk show peak, it was in the bargain doll bins for years afterward for $3-4. The Rosie O’Donnell plush doll however was extremely popular and sold out as fast as they could produce them. O’Donnell came out shortly after the doll was released as well so that may have hampered sales.

Barbie’s Friend is a very playable, well made doll and a pleasure to have in the museum collection.

  606. where can you find replacement batteries for the talking Fran doll. Just received one I ordered but it needs new batteries. My daughter had one of these and LOVED it but we want to hear it talk again!!!!

    • I am missing many dolls from the total universe of celebrity 11 inch or so dolls. Funds are limited. If you want to loan them to the museume, we’d be happy to photograph them and send them back.

  607. Do you sell the dolls? If so where do I go to get one? I really want the Ozzy one. I am a huge fan and collector. Please send me info if possible. Or call 1-(586)###-####. Thank you Tom Wright

  608. I have the AMA Michael Jackson doll from 1984. its out of the box, and has been broken at the waist. Is there any way to fix him and what is his worth?

    • It’s not gonna be worth much is anything now . I’d just keep for yourself. It’s all about condition of it being kept in its original box not being taken out of the box at all

    • Probably not that much, but check ebay completed listings. Those are the best market prices there are on what it’s currently worth. Play with it, it’s a fun doll.

      • Back in 2014 there was a glut of used Snoop Dogg dolls and they were selling on ebay for about $20. Now in April 2021, they have sold on Ebay above $150. If your Junior has a blue shirt rather than the gray shirt, it could sell for up to $300.

  609. I should clarify that a later Cher doll was produced by Mego, and was a cheaper version of the original vinyl doll. She was made a little bit shorter, with a hollow plastic body, legs, and arms. She did not have jointed wrists, and her elbows and knees did not bend. The body was the only thing Mego changed on the new doll, apparently to reduce production costs. They used the same vinyl head from the original doll, with identical hair and facial screening.

  610. The 1976 Mego Cher doll’s bending elbows do, in fact, hold a pose. If the doll’s elbows no longer hold a pose, it’s due to age and playwear, which can eventually break the mechanism inside. I have over a dozen Mego Cher dolls, and about half of them still have working elbows, so she can hold her microphone closer to her mouth.

  611. Hi, A few clarifications for this page: Mego made both a 12″ Farrah Fawcett doll and a Jaclyn Smith doll, who played 2 of the Charlie’s Angels characters, in 1977, not 1997. They, along with the Mego Cher and Toni Tenille celebrity dolls produced in the same era, had the melting issues at their joints. Mattel made the 11 1/2″ Kate Jackson and Cheryl Ladd dolls, who played 2 other Charlie’s Angels characters, also in 1977. These dolls did not suffer from any melting at their joints.

    • The museum at this point is not selling dolls. If we should change our minds, we’ll announce it here. Try ebay or craigslist.

  618. i have an older version w/ different face body type, had an oilers uniform (long gone),looking for gear to dress this 12 in figure, and current values for used c/payed with condition.

  620. I bought one today. He was not in a box. He does not have shoes. He is dressed in the original clothes but his shirt and jeans have tears in them. He is in good shape other than that. Does anyone know the value of this doll in this condition? I’d appreciate any guidance or help to find out more about this doll’s value of if there is any demand for this doll. I wold be willing to sell if the price was worth it. I like this doll, he makes me smile. He’s a reminder of child hood, watching the Sonny and Cher show.

  622. I HAVE A SEALED SELENA DOLL THE ORIGINAL BY ARM ENTERPRISES THAT IS MALE – IT ALMOST LOOKS LIKE IT COULD BE HER HUSBAND, ANY IDEAS?

    • There was never an official male “Selena” doll sold by ARM Enterprise nor approved by the Quintanilla family. I do remember there was a person on Ebay trying to pass a Mario Lopez doll from the show (Saved by the Bell) and fool others into thinking it was the official Chris Perez doll which is a fake.
