Sonny Bono
The celebrity Sonny Bono doll was made in 1976 by Mego from the Sonny & Cher TV series. He starred with Cher on the The Sonny & Cher Comedy Hour and The Sonny & Cher Show from 1971 until 1974 when they split up. The Sonny doll was made a full 13 inches tall so it oddly stands as tall as the Cher doll.
Bono was later elected to U.S. House of Representatives from California’s 44th district in 1993 and died in a ski accident on January 5, 1998.
The Sonny Bono doll comes wearing high waisted bell bottom blue jeans with off centered gold plastic buttons, a black and cream knit shirt, and black plastic boots with no socks. The doll click bends at the knees and elbows; shoulders and hips joints go back and forth; head moves side to side; and wrists are jointed. The doll body is two parts that separate at the waist and are connected with a ball joint and inner band that enable it to move in any direction. Unfortunately the snap on the jeans pops open whenever the doll is anything but straight.

I bought one today. He was not in a box. He does not have shoes. He is dressed in the original clothes but his shirt and jeans have tears in them. He is in good shape other than that. Does anyone know the value of this doll in this condition? I’d appreciate any guidance or help to find out more about this doll’s value of if there is any demand for this doll. I wold be willing to sell if the price was worth it. I like this doll, he makes me smile. He’s a reminder of child hood, watching the Sonny and Cher show.
