Glenn Close’s vinyl celebrity doll was manufactured by Mattel as a Barbie Collectors Edition for the Great Villains Collections in 1996.  Glenn Close is depicted as Cruella De Vil from the 1996 Disney movie remake of 100 Dalmatians.  Another version of the doll was made with a red dress called  “Ruthless in Red”.

Cruella De Vil knows how to make an unforgettable entrance in Disney’s live-action film, 101 Dalmatians. An now, dressed in a spectacular fashion inspired by the House of De Vil, emerges a collector doll created in the likeness of Glenn Close as the evil Cruella De Vil.

Cruella looks positively devel-ish in her Power in Pinstripesâ„¢ fashion: A fitted black satin suit, extravagant faux fur stole, and extreme hat. Details like spiked heels and scarlet cigarette holder capture the essence of Cruella’s delightfully wicked character.

Cruella De Vil is first in a series of collector dolls inspired by great Disney villains. Each doll from the Great Villains Collectionâ„¢ is showcased in surroundings that are symbolic of her character in each film.

The doll comes dress in Cruella de Vil outfit complete with a tight fitting pin striped black glittery suit/dress with a long cuffed sleeves, large white glittery collar on one side, and four ivory-like horn decorations (two on the back).  The suit jacket is really a vest that open and easily comes off with the double breasted snaps in the front.  Underneath the vest are the matching pinstriped black sleeves and skirt attached to a knit scoop neck blouse as a one piece dress.  The dress has a snap in the back but the skit is so tight and tacked shut so it would be difficult to get it back on. 

Underneath the skirt the doll has a pair of black panty hose with a seam up the back.  On the feet are black plastic high heel shoes with thin black ribbon tied around to ankles to give the appearance they are part of the shoe.  On the hands are a pair of wrist length black mittens.

The doll’s face has painted bright blue eyes and red lips and very much resembles Glenn Close in doll form.  The rooted hair is doll’s right half black and left half white and is covered by the hard black felt hat with dotted black netting hanging over the front of the head.  The netting is easily pulled up but the hat is tacked to the head with thread and wouldn’t stay on well if cut.  The hair style is complete under the hat.

The doll comes with a glittery Cruella de Vil labeled base doll stand, red sunglasses, a fur wrap, a tasseled fur muff, plastic long red cigarette holder, and black shoes.

The dolls arms are fixed in the bent position, the shoulders rotate, neck goes side to side and up and down a bit, knees click bend a few times, hips rotate, and waist twists. The tight skirt limits some of the possible leg movement.
