Thomas Jefferson
The Thomas Jefferson celebrity doll depicts him as himself, the 3rd President of the United States and author of the Declaration of Independence. He was elected two times and served from 1801 to 1809. He died on the 4th of July in 1826. The doll was manufactured by Toypresidents, Inc. in 2003.
It is a talking doll that has an actors voice saying 25 unique and authentic phrases like:”Let me add that a bill of rights is what the people are entitled to against every government on earth,” “It is to secure our rights that we resort to government at all,” and “I own I should like better… that [the President] should be elected for seven years, and incapable for ever after” by pushing on the lapel of the blue early 19th century frock coat.

The clothing is above average on this Toypresidents doll with hand tailoring details that are true to the early 1800 British fashion period like the blue knee-length skirted frock coat and the white tights under tan breeches. Extras like tiny buttons and snaps sewn on, removable clothes, elastic stirrups keep shirt tucked in make it both a collectors doll and a doll to be played with.
The doll wears a woolly blue frock coat with woolly tan below the knee breeches. Closure by snaps.
Under the coat there is a white cotton lacy collared and cuffed shirt with snap closure. Layered on top is a tan gold brocade vest with a satin back. It is decorated with tiny gold buttons and has a snap closure and a ribbon bow on the back. Black plastic painted gold buckle 1800 men’s dress shoes and white knee high stockings finish off the feet.
The doll’s underwear are white cotton boxers with the a red July 4 in a script font imprinted on them which symbolize the Declaration of Independence and the day he died in 1826.Toypresidents personalized the boxers of many of their president dolls.
The dolls body has gray molded hair Above the battery compartment the Toypresident’s seal is stamped into the back of the torso.
It also contains an official Toypresidents biographical pamphlet on President Thomas Jefferson and a black adjustable doll stand in the box insert. The 3 button batteries (LR44/L1154) are changeable. The doll is fully articulated at the major joints including wrists and ankles and very easy to pose.
