The Isabel Allende celebrity doll depicts her as herself, a world renown Chilean language bestselling author and human rights activist. Her books have been translated from Spanish into more than 44 languages. The Barbie® Inspiring Women™ series doll was made by Mattel and was released September 11, 2024. The Black Label doll was designed by Suim Noh and retailed at $35.
Allende was born (1942) in Lima, Peru to Chilean parents, returned to Chile in 1945, and was exiled in Venezuela for 13 years after a military coup led by General Augusto Pinochet in 1973 . While in Venezuela, her 99 year old grandfather was dying and she wrote him hopeful letters which became her first and bestselling novel, The House of the Spirits (1982). In 1989 she moved to California when she married her second husband and was granted United States citizenship in 1993. She is also a human rights activist and runs the Isabel Allende Foundation, which is chartered to empower and protect the rights of women and children. As of 2023 she has authored 23 fiction and 6 non-fiction books and won numerous international literary awards and was honored with the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2014 by President Barack Obama.

The Isabel Allende celebrity doll comes wearing a sleeveless, below the knee, red knit dress with a sewn-in shoulder cape and slit down the doll’s left side. The edge of the cape is unfortunately unfinished and can fray. The dress is opens in the back with Velcro closure.
The face is painted with brown eyes and open mouth red lips. The rooted hair is high lighted dark blonde and styled short with bangs.
Accessories include a plastic replica of her first book with one side in English and the other in Spanish, a plastic black dog, plastic orange gold dangle earrings and two bracelets. One her feet are black heels.
The doll is on a Mattel articulated Gigi body with articulations at the neck , shoulders, elbows, wrists, hips, and knees bend 90 degrees. Regular stiff pointed-toe Barbie feet.
Included are the plastic doll stand and an official Mattel Certificate of Authenticity.
