The Cynthia Erivo celebrity doll portrays her at 36 years old in the role as Elphaba Thropp in the 2024 Universal Studios musical film, Wicked (Part 1). Mattel released five different Wicked Elphaba dolls in October 2024: the Deluxe Collectors’ version as Wicked Witch of the East, a Defying Gravity singing version, a OzDust ballroom outfit fashion doll, a Deluxe Shiz University doll set with Madame Morrible (Mattel Creations exclusive), and the Shiz University doll. Cynthia Erivo is a British actor who began her career on London’s West End stage. She is known for her award winning Broadway role as Celie in the musical Color Purple, where she won at tony for Best Actress in a Musical in 2016 and a Grammy for Best Musical Album in 2017. In film she played Harriet Tubman in the film Harriet and in television Aretha Franklin in Genius: Aretha. She has won nominations for both a Oscar and Primetime Emmy for those respective roles. She is one of the few who have an EGOT in nominations. In 2025 she will again play Elphaba in part two Wicked:For Good.

The Cynthia Eviro celebrity doll comes wearing a school uniform outfit from Shiz University. This particular sweater skirt combination does not actually appear worn by Elphaba in the Wicked movie but the skirt and boots do. The top in a one piece grey sweater and light blue blouse collar that opens in the back. The sweater is made of a fuzzy fleece material with all the decor like buttons, strips, S pin, and stitching printed on the fabric. The blouse collar is a cotton/poly type of material. The skirt is a multi length grey pleated skirt with a back opening. Underneath are a pair of black fishnet tights that go from the waist down to the ankles under the black plastic boots.
The doll is made of green vinyl and the face is painted with green eyes and dark green lips. The cheeks have freckles and the hairline has painted black curls. The long black and brown, two toned, waist length micro braids are styles with the front pulled back and tied at the back of the head with a black polyband.
The doll comes with a black plastic school bag that opens and a purple book, green notebook and dark green ribbon fused together as one piece.
There are 11 points of articulation: Neck, shoulders, elbows, wrists, hips, and knees. The ankles are fixed and the high heeled feet are larger than a standard Barbie doll.
