The Issa Rae celebrity doll portrays her at 37 years old in the role of President Barbie in the July 2023 Warner Bros. Pictures comedy film Barbie The Movie, directed by Greta Gerwig. Issa Rae is an American actress, writer, and producer first known from her YouTube web series Awkward Black Girl (2011-present) which features content created by black artists. She became more widely known when she got the starring role in the HBO television show Insecure (2016-2021) and has since appeared in a number of movies. Rae is also an advocate for social justice, women’s rights, and civil rights.

The Issa Rae President Barbie doll comes wearing a gold glittered pink floor length ball gown. The dress is a full pink satin skirt covered with a tulle gold glittered layer and a tight-fitting gold and pink sleeveless bodice. It includes a pink satin “Presidents” sash with a gold tassel. The dress has an opening in the back and can be removed.
The face is painted with brown eyes and dark pink lips. The rooted brown hair is long and fully styled with a side part and long flowing curls. The hands are manicured with light pink paint to match the dress.
Small plastic gold earrings and an elaborate plastic gold flowered necklace complete the outfit and match the gold high heels.
The doll has the Mattel Barbie hero body with articulation at the neck, shoulders, elbows, wrists, hips, and knees. The torso and ankles are fixed.
Included in the box is a plastic light stand with a pale pink base with a clear pole, along with an official Mattel Certificate of Authenticity.
