The Jung Ho-seok celebrity doll depicts him at 25 years old as J-Hope (j-hope), a South Korean rapper, songwriter and dancer in the South Korean K-pop group BTS managed under Big Hit Entertainment.  The doll was released by Mattel in September 2019 and is one of seven in  BTS Prestige collection styled after their LOVE YOURSELF 結 Version S album jacket photos. The deluxe dolls were release in black boxes at a retail price of $50.00.

The 2019 Mattel Prestige BTS dolls star in a reenactment of the BTS Episode of the LOVE YOURSELF 結 album jacket photo shoot. Mattel made celebrity dolls with the Version S outfits worn for the Love Yourself: Answer album photos as seen in the red box section of their photo shoot episode.

BTS was founded in 2013 and has made it to the top of the charts in the US and UK as well as in Asia. BTS is short for Bangtan Sonyeondan which translates to “Bulletproof Boy Scouts” and informally as Bangtan Boys.  The entire set of both the IDOL and Prestige dolls is represented in the Celebrity Doll Museum.

The J-hope Prestige doll comes wearing a black jean style jacket made with metallic red, blue, gold  and silver embroidered leaf design black material. It has real flapped pockets on the chest. Underneath is a cranberry red long sleeved vertical laced shirt. The laced is down the front back and sleeved. Down the front are three sewn on silver star buttons,. It Velcros open down the front for opening.

On the bottom is a pair of satin black culotte shorts with a pleated half skirt with black velvet strips over the pleats sewn into the waist. The shorts Velcro open in the back. The body has underwear molded into the body.

On the feet are silver studded black plastic Ken sized slip on shoes over black see through nylon mesh ankle socks.

The brown eyes and natural pink lips are painted through some kind of textured dot matrix printing,  The shiny black rooted hair is well styled and sprayed with product to hold it in place.  The doll’s head is stamped with ©2019 MATTEL at the neckline. The left hand is molded into the special heart hand gessture.

The 11 point articulation is somewhat limited for dance poses. Head rotates and tilts slightly down but doesn’t go up.  The body/waist  is fixed, the shoulders rotate around but hit a stop and must be reversed to position. The hips articulate only forward and back but not side to side.  Knees, elbows, ankles, and wrists bend and twist.  The ankles rotate in all directions which makes it easier to balance and stand the doll. The doll has extra long lower legs.

The J-Hope doll comes in solid black box with silver BTS motif. The back has a photo of the K-pop group from the Love Yourself album jacket photo shoot. The doll comes with a black plastic stand base with a clear thigh grabbing post.
