The Iman Vellani celebrity doll portrays her at 18 years old as the character Kamala Khan in the 2022 Disney+ miniseries Ms. Marvel and a future The Marvels film. The doll is a Special Edition action doll made by Disney Store in 2022 and was distributed worldwide for a retail price of $49.99. 

Vellani is a Canadian actress of Pakistani origin and Ms Marvel was her debut acting role.

Ms. Marvel

Kamala Khan is just your average Pakistani-American Muslim 16-year-old growing up in Jersey City. She’s a great student, an avid gamer, and a voracious fan fiction scribe. While she’s got the best family and friends in the world, they might be a close second to her greatest love of all: Super Heroes, capital S, capital H. Kamala’s got a very special affinity for Captain Marvel in particular. She often feels caught between many worlds and struggles to feel like she totally fits in at home or at school. That is, until she gets super-powers like the heroes she’s always looked up to. Things must be easier with super-powers, right?

The Iman Vellani dolls comes wearing a replica of the Ms. Marvel costume her mother made her in series.  The red long sleeve with blue patterned short dress is decorated with decal-ed red and gold lightning bolt detailing. Underneath are red leggings with red vinyl decals that down the legs and include knee pads.  Around the neck is a red ribbon to represent a scarf. 

Curators notes: Be very careful when removing the doll from the packaging because the red ribbon scarf is attached with multiple plastic connectors and some double stick tape. It would be very easy to shred the ribbon forcing the doll out.

The face is painted with light brown eyes, a permanent blue mask, and pink lips. The hair is rooted dark brunette hair down to the middle of the back. It is soft and very comb-able.

The Super Hero costume is completely removable with a Velcro enclosure in the back of the top and with the elastic waist for the leggings. The top is very tightly fitted but will slide over the hips if you first pull down the leggings. The fisted hands(The museum’s version of the doll came with two left hand) and sneakers have to be pulled off to take off the garments and bangle. Warm them with a hair dryer on low heat, if you have trouble snapping them back on. Underneath is painted on red underwear.  The red sneakers are molded as feet.

One the right hand is a plastic purple energy glove and on the left wrist is a gold and green replica of the magical bangle that gives the character her powers.  Both are removable(bangle require removing the hand).

The action figure is articulated at the neck(tilts front and sideways 45°), chest (tilts forward and backwards 10°), shoulders (up and down 90°, 360° around), upper arm(turns 360°), elbows (up 160°), wrists(turns and ball joint), hip(90 forward, 10° back, 45°side), knees(160° back), and ankles(turn 360° and tilt ever so slightly).
