Jeff Bridges
The Jeff Bridges celebrity doll portrays him at 49 years old in the role as Jeffrey “The Dude” Lebowski in the 1998 comedy film The Big Lebowski. The Sideshow Toys The Dude action figure was made by Sideshow Collectibles in 2022 and retailed for $250 (Item # 1004481). This is the Limited Edition Sideshow Exclusive edition with the swap-out smoking hand. There is also Collectors Edition without the joint and smoking hand.
Bridges in an Academy Award winning and six time nominated American actor who has appeared on screen since Sea Hunt with his famous actor father, Lloyd Bridges in 1958. He is currently in the FX television series The Old Man.
The Sideshow “The Dude” action figure comes in multiple layers of protection: a regular shipping box, a cardboard shipper, a plastic bag for the shoe-like box, a fully decorated two piece box including the bottom, two molded plastic black and clear covered doll and accessory trays wrapped with a “The Dude” cardboard band, and the head and limbs each in their own tiny protective bags. There was not a spot of dust or scratch on the doll or box.
The doll has molded golden highlighted light brown molded hair and beard and painted bright blue eyes with natural pink lips. A pair of removable orange lens sunglasses are an accessory to complete to the look.
The iconic Lebowski outfit includes tan, black and brown cardigan zippered sweater, a white V-neck t-shirt and tan linen casual comfortable pants with pockets and string ties at the waist and ankles. All the clothes are removable and underneath is a fat suit to round out the body, The feet are molded with grooves to hold the clear, detailed jelly sandals firmly in place. The jellies do come off with care by pulling the back strap over the heel.
Accessories include 9 swap-out hands (multiple gesturing, grip, bowling ball holding, drink holding), and with the Limited Edition: an extra joint holding hand where the fingers are flexible and separated just enough to keep something small in place (nicely designed). The doll comes with the regular slightly curled hands on the body.
Also included are a weighted, black plastic bowling ball about 1.5 inches in diameter with real holes for the fingers and a leatherette bowling ball bag with a working zipper and rounded plastic bowl piece on the bottom to hold the ball. There are 4 different plastic White Russian glasses representing the different styles he used in the movie (home, with Maude, bowling alley bar, and Ben Gazzara scenes). The White Russians also have clear plastic ice cubes embedded in the different levels of beverage. Removable sunglasses are included that tuck under molded hair. Lastly, the limited edition has a tiny little home rolled cigarette with ash at the end.
Curators note: play over a table when placing the joint in the hands. It is tiny and likely to be dropped.
The director chair, rug, and table do not come with the doll. While not a perfect match, the rug is a mouse pad from Amazon. It really ties the kit together.Lebowski Rug Mouse Pad
The doll comes with a black plastic doll stand that has a removable Lebowski rug patterned decal at the base. The doll itself it fairly easy to balance on its own for short periods of time. The Sideshow Dude figure comes with no paperwork. While limited, it is undefined. The Dude is not a numbered series, no Certificate of Authenticity, no warranty registration, no instructions—-nothing but the box, the figure, and all the cool accessories. The action figure has 30 points of articulation for just about any pose.
