The Johnny Depp celebrity doll portrays him as himself at 47 years old in the role of Captain Jack Sparrow in Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides (Pirates 4).  Mattel released the doll in conjunction with an Angelica (Penelope Cruz) doll in 2011 with the release of the movie in 2011.

Johnny Depp is an American actor whose film debut was in A Nightmare on Elm Stree(1984) and Platoon (1986) and his teen idol outbreak role came from the Fox television show 21 Jump Street (1987-1990) where he played an undercover cop in a high school. Depp has played many unusual characters over the years including Edward Scissorhands, Willie Wonker, the Mad Hatter in Alice in Wonderland, and Sweeny Todd.  He also has taken roles as deep characters like Gilbert Grape, Ed Wood, and Roux, the lover in Chocolat.   His biggest commercial success by far though is his role as Jack Sparrow in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise.

Depp is also a musician: playing the guitar and singing while touring in 2022 and early 2023 with his good friend Jeff Beck until his tragic death.

The Johnny Depp celebrity doll comes costumed in a very close replica of the Captain Jack Sparrow movie outfit.  The only things missing are the three point pirate’s hat and the coat.

The main outfit is a one piece shirt is an ivory linen puffy sleeved, open wide collar, longed-sleeved pirate shirt with a pair of gray knee length pants attached at the waist.. Over that is a long paisley designed blue cotton vest, a faux swede silver plastic bucked over the shoulder sword holster, a sword, the ivory with red striped waist scarf, a brown swede belt with an attached plastic skull of his mother’s head with blond hair sticking out.

On the feet are a soft plastic pair of knee high pirate boots with a slit up the back for easy removal. No socks or underwear. On the head is a red and black patterned head scarf with a plastic bone attached on the front.

The face sculpt is painted with heavy black eyeliner and brown eyes, a red cross on the cheek, brown painted beard and mustache, natural pink lips, and two short doll hair braids hanging off the chin.  The long brown and blond highlighted rooted hair hangs down to the waist with faux dreadlocks, a rope braid, and blond curl in the front.  One faux dreadlock comes up over the headscarf. 

The doll is very well articulated at the neck, wrists, elbows, shoulders, hips, knees, and ankles.  They rotate 360 degrees and bend to at least a right angle.  The head tips up and down and rotates.
